You will be charged Internet access fees when you select this service. Internet access service fees are different from your telephone charges and are not included in your monthly telephone rates. They vary by service area and whether you have selected dial-up Internet access or High-Speed Internet access. We also offer various levels of High-Speed Internet service at different rates. All rates are subject to change and you will be charged standard rates for the service selected by you following the conclusion of any introductory promotional rates. You also may incur significant telephone charges to access the Internet. Ask a customer service representative at 1.800.201.4099 to learn the access numbers available in your area. You can then contact your local telephone company or refer to your calling plan to find out any charges that may apply when you access the Internet.
Your computer system must have certain basic capabilities to access the Internet--call a customer service representative for details on system requirements. Because speeds and security are at times dependent upon the Internet, downloading and uploading speeds, reliability, and level of security may vary. Speed and service also may vary by area and will vary by the nature of the service you have selected. Internet access services are not available in all areas. Some restrictions apply.
To receive High-Speed Internet services, you must have a High-Speed Internet modem and receive service over an R1 dial tone line. You may not obtain High-Speed Internet services over ISDN lines (BRI or PRI), dedicated circuits or special service circuits. You may incur additional charges if you request installation of a modem or router kit. Find out more by contacting a customer service representative at 1.800.201.4099.
High-Speed Internet service is not available on all telephone lines and is subject to circuit availability and final verification by us. Although your phone line pre-qualifies for High-Speed Internet Service there may be instances where we cannot complete installation of High-Speed Internet at your service address. Due to existing conditions of the telephone company infrastructure, some telephone equipment, which is used to provide better voice service, can interfere with the High-Speed Internet signal. If your line has these conditions, it is not qualified to carry the High-Speed Internet signal. If it is determined that we are unable to install this service, you will not incur any charges associated with the installation.

Use of the centurytel.net constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions in this agreement. Customer agrees by usage of the following conditions:
1. CenturyTel, ("CenturyTel"), by providing centurytel.net service exercises no control whatsoever over the content of the information passing through it and you are forewarned that some information you receive may be offensive or, on occasion, obscene. If you are offended by certain language or expression of certain ideas, then by signing onto this service you acknowledge that you have read this warning and will not hold CenturyTel, its affiliates, employees, officers, directors or suppliers responsible for any language, thoughts, discussions or graphics which may be part of information viewed by you on the Internet system. You are warned that it is illegal and against CenturyTel policy for children to view, load, or in any other way access adult material (graphics, audio or text) and that any violation of this rule will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and will result in the termination of your account without prior notification. As CenturyTel does not desire to degrade the exchange of legitimate information contained on the Internet, any information originated by you must comply with these Terms and Conditions.
2. CenturyTel will bill for centurytel.net service monthly. Payments are due when the bill is rendered and are payable at any payment center designated by CenturyTel. If payment in full is not received by the next bill date, the account will be considered in default and service may be terminated. If your account is disconnected for any cause not in error, you will be charged $15.00 to be reconnected.
3. CenturyTel invokes a return check charge policy.
4. Dial up Internet service may be canceled by either party, in writing, at any time with no penalty. If you elect to terminate your service in this manner, charges will cease upon receipt by CenturyTel of your written request.
CenturyTel DSL High-Speed Internet customers are required to maintain service for at least 1 year. Early termination will result in a penalty of up to $149.95 on modem (retail value of modem). Disconnection of all other Internet services will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the contract or agreement for that service.
5. CenturyTel reserves the right to change the rates and otherwise modify these Terms and Conditions by notifying you 10 days in advance of the effective date of the change. If you do not request your service to be terminated, it will be conclusively presumed that you consent to the new terms, conditions, and rates as notified.
6. CENTURYTEL MAKES NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, FOR THE SERVICE IT IS PROVIDING. CENTURYTEL ALSO DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CenturyTel intends that the service be used for educational and recreational purposes only. CenturyTel will not be responsible for any damage you suffer. This includes loss of data resulting from delays, non-deliveries, missed-deliveries, or service interruptions caused by CenturyTel's own negligence or your errors or omissions.
7. centurytel.net may only be used for lawful purposes. Transmissions of any material in violation of a local, state, national, or international law, rule or regulation is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, material legally judged to be threatening, obscene, harassing or fraudulent by local community standards, or material protected by trade secret. Also, altering header information or impersonating another is prohibited. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CenturyTel, its affiliates, employees, officers, directors and suppliers from any claims resulting from your use of the service, which damages you or another party.
8. Any access to other networks, service providers, or services (i.e., eBay) through centurytel.net must comply with the rules appropriate for such other networks, service providers, or services. Non-compliance with such rules will result in the termination of your account without prior notification.
9. All postings to USENET must comply with the etiquette guidelines such as those posted in news.announce.newusers, and with the posted charter of the newsgroup(s) to which you are posting. Non-compliance with these rules will result in the termination of your account without prior notification.
10. Customer agrees to refrain from inappropriate postings or multiple postings of the same message to many inappropriate USENET newsgroups ("spamming"). Customer agrees to refrain from sending mass, unsolicited e-mail messages. This includes, but is not limited to, using a non-CenturyTel service (i.e., a free e-mail service) to send or post unsolicited messages that reference a web site or other service hosted on a CenturyTel server or listed in the CenturyTel domain name system (DNS) database. Customer agrees to post advertisements only in areas that specifically encourage or allow advertising. Customer agrees to respect the conventions of the newsgroups, mailing lists and networks to which the customer is posting, including those more restrictive than, but not limited to the above. Complaints received regarding non-compliance will be treated as grounds for termination or suspension of customer's Internet access account, as well as removal of access to other CenturyTel Internet-related servers. ANY CUSTOMER VIOLATING THE ABOVE STATED STANDARDS IN A MANNER THAT REQUIRES ADMINISTRATIVE WORK BY CENTURYTEL.NET IS SUBJECT TO A FEE BILLED AT A RATE OF $150.00 PER HOUR.
11. All use of centurytel.net must be within the restrictions associated with your account and as set forth herein. CenturyTel reserves the right to terminate service to accounts that exceed their restrictions.
12. THE CENTURYTEL.NET STANDARD ACCESS PLAN IS NOT INTENDED FOR LONG-TERM CONNECTIONS. SESSIONS ON THE STANDARD DIAL-UP ACCOUNTS WHICH EXCEED A REASONABLE TIME MAY BE TERMINATED IN ORDER TO PROTECT NETWORK RESOURCES AND PRESERVE SERVICE AVAILABILITY FOR OTHER USERS. IN THE EVENT CENTURYTEL.NET DETERMINES THAT AN ACCOUNT IS EXCEEDING THE RELEVANT BANDWIDTH OR DISK UTILIZATION OR FREQUENTLY EXCEEDING REASONABLE SESSION TIMES FOR DIAL-UP ACCOUNTS, THE ACCOUNT OWNER WILL GENERALLY BE NOTIFIED BY E-MAIL. IF THE EXCESS USE CONTINUES AFTER SUCH NOTIFICATION, THE OWNER MAY BE REQUESTED TO UPGRADE THE ACCOUNT'S SERVICE AGREEMENT OR TO MODIFY THE ACTIVITY CREATING THE EXCESS USE, OR THE ACCOUNT MAY BE TERMINATED.
13. You are responsible for the protection of your account and data. You are advised that the Internet is not a secure system. Data can be and often is, viewed by third parties. Information of a private or confidential nature should not be placed on the system or if it is you should take steps to protect it using encryption technologies. CENTURYTEL SPECIFICALLY DENIES ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SECURITY OF YOUR ACCOUNT AND THE DATA STORED IN CENTURYTEL FACILITIES. centurytel.net is not a storage facility and customers wishing to safeguard their data should make back-ups and store them in a secure place. CenturyTel notifies you that back-ups may remain in CenturyTel's facilities and could be subject to seizure by law.
14. Use of any information obtained via the centurytel.net communications service is at your own risk. CenturyTel specifically denies responsibility for the accuracy or the quality of the information obtained through its service.
15. Certain services are limited in disk space availability. CenturyTel reserves the right to delete, without prior warning, files from a directory or mailbox if the associated limitations are exceeded. Contact a CenturyTel representative to see if additional space can be purchased for a particular service. The limitations are as follows:
E-mail - 10MB per mailbox.
Free personal web space (not for commercial use) - 5MB per site.
Other web space - 5MB per site unless purchased separately or supplied with your CenturyTel plan.
Newsgroups - 5GB of downloads per month.
E-mail - Read messages removed from servers 30 days after delivery.
E-mail - Unread messages removed from servers 60 days after delivery.
16. The sharing of passwords or accounts is strictly prohibited and violators are subject to the cancellation of their accounts without prior notice.
17. The resale of the centurytel.net service or any other associated services by any and all means is strictly prohibited unless approved in advance in writing by CenturyTel.
18. It is recognized that the Internet may contain viruses which may, if not eliminated, destroy parts or all of the data contained in your computer. centurytel.net has no control over these viruses. centurytel.net does not provide any filtering or checking of data to eliminate these viruses. YOU AGREE TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN MECHANISM FOR CHECKING YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR VIRUSES AND HOLD CENTURYTEL, ITS EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, SUBSIDIARIES AND SUPPLIERS FAULTLESS FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY VIRUSES OBTAINED THROUGH CENTURYTEL.NET. Further, you agree not to introduce, knowingly or unknowingly, any virus onto the Internet system or centurytel.net's hosts. FURTHER YOU AGREE TO HOLD CENTURYTEL, ITS AFFILIATES, EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS OR SUPPLIERS HARMLESS FROM, AND TO INDEMNIFY CENTURYTEL, ITS AFFILIATES, EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS OR SUPPLIERS FOR, ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM ANY VIRUSES AND/OR SOFTWARE BUGS INTRODUCED BY YOU INTO THE INTERNET OR CENTURYTEL SYSTEMS.
19. CenturyTel reserves the right to monitor and/or terminate the activities of any user when said activities are adversely affecting centurytel.net services or other Internet services.
20. These Terms and Conditions supersede all previous representations, understandings or agreements and shall supersede any other terms and conditions of any order submitted or prior price quoted.
